Albert “Ron” Wollinger, Sr., 74, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly at the Winchester Hospital on Thursday Evening, August 16. He was the husband of Janice T. (Lear) Wollinger.
Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late Albert M., and the late Olive (Finethy) Wollinger. “Ron” as he was known to family and friends had worked for many years as a truck driver for Winn Express and the Independent Tallow Co. He also owned and operated his own truck for a time. Ron was also a skilled auto body technician, and had owned his own auto body shop. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the Winn Management Company. Ron was a past member of the Lexington Minutemen. He loved country music, and he was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his wife Janice, Ron is survived by his sons and daughters, Albert “Bud” Wollinger, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Winchester, Charles Wollinger and his wife Mary of Winchester, Cindy Wollinger of Woburn, Laura Legros and her husband Mark of Ormond Beach, FL, Glenn Wollinger and his wife Michele of Woburn; and he was preceded in death by one son, the late Stephen Wollinger. He is also survived by one brother, William Wollinger and his wife Janice of Lynnfield; 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., North Woburn on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 11:00 am. Visiting hours at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd. (Cor. of Pleasant St.) Woburn on Tuesday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., Woburn, MA 01801; or the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 2 Merrimac St., Woburn, MA 01801
