Daniel J. Waldron, 86, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, May 1. He was the husband of the late Ann E. “Betty” (McGarry) Waldron who died in 2000.
Born in South Boston, and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Philip, and the late Kathleen (Donovan) Waldron. After graduation from Somerville High School, Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served during World War II, earning the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, American Theatre Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Daniel was a life member of the American Legion, and the D.A.V. Prior to his retirement in 1987, Daniel was employed as an Insurance Adjuster for Hanover Insurance Company, where he worked for 41 years.
Daniel is survived by two sons, Philip Waldron of Woburn and Thomas Waldron of Charlestown; one daughter, Susan Willows and her husband Brad of Woburn; and one granddaughter, Jordan Willows of Woburn. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Waldron of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by one sister, the late Mary Franey; and two brothers, the late Philip Waldron and the late Thomas Waldron.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visiting hours at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Road, Woburn on Thursday, May 3 from 4-8 pm. A private funeral and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
