Helen Xenakis Varoutsos, 83, of Woburn, MA passed away on Sunday, July 22. She was the beloved wife of Nicholas Varoutsos of Woburn for 54 years, loving mother of Nina Varoutsos of Woburn, and Nicholas Varoutsos and his wife Barbara of North Andover, and adored grandmother of Julia, Matthew and Brian Varoutsos of North Andover. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Hope Xenakis Verras and her husband Andrew Verras of Woburn, and Diane Xenakis Triantafilou and her husband Rev. Nicholas Triantafilou of North Andover; as well as by many nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Menelous and Katrina Xenakis, owners of the X-Lent Donut Shop. Helen managed the family business for a number of years prior to working as a Bridal Floral Consultant for Mahoney’s Rocky Ledge in Winchester for 25 years. She graduated from Chapel Hill School for Girls, attended Bentley College, and was a longtime active member of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn, MA. Helen will be remembered for her kind heart and generous spirit, and for the quiet and unassuming way in which she constantly extended to those in need.
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours from 4-8pm on Wednesday July 25th at Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Road, Woburn. Her funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday July 26th at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Avenue, Woburn, followed by interment at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
