With the help of students, Joyce Middle School's 2011 NSTAR fundraiser brought it several hundred dollars more that it did last year, according to an announcement from the school.
This year students raised $3,000, compared to $2,300 last year. Students who sold a considerable amount of compact flourescent lightbulbs to neighbors received a prize for their effort.
The students who sold the most lightbulbs in among their classmates received $20 in cash and a $50 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. They were:
Grade 6: Brett Cushing, who sold 99 bulbs.
Grade 7: Tayla Danizio, who sold 207.
Grade 8: Elizabeth Ryan, who sold 94.
Students who received honorable mention and a $25 gift card:
Grade 6:Felicia Fitgerald, who sold 55 bulbs.
Grade 6: Lea Fialkosky, who sold 62 of them.
Students who received honorable mention and a speaker system:
Grade 6: Kaitlyn Walsh, Julia Mendes, Shaun Grace, Jack Dever and Avery Leydon.
Grade 7: Haley Steiner and Corey McGrath.

The money raised will fund field trips, according to the Joyce Middle School website.
