Laura Standley a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist

Woburn Memorial High School is proud to announce Laura Standley as a Semifinalist in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Laura, a senior, is the daughter of Peter and Mindy Standley.

From Paula Mooney, of the Woburn Public Schools:

National Merit Scholarship (NMSC), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 440 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

Laura was recently selected to membership in the Woburn Memorial High School National Honor Society for her scholarship, leadership, character and service.  She has earned numerous academic awards; including the Rensselaer Award, the Society of Women Engineers Award and Art All State.  She exemplifies the integrity and citizenship that we strive for in all students at Woburn Memorial High School.

Laura will be notified of her status as a Finalist by NMSC in the spring.
