Margaret J. (Cox) Foley, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully at her home after a short illness on Friday evening, September 14. She was 98 years of age.
Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J., and the late Anne (Cullen) Cox; and she was the wife of the late James W. Foley, Jr. who died in 1991. They had been married for 55 years. Mrs. Foley was a graduate of St. Charles High School, Class of 1933. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, and had also belonged to the Ladies Sodality.
Until recently, Margaret had remained active and she enjoyed getting out and visiting with friends. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, baking, and trading recipes. Most of all, Margaret’s life revolved around her family and her faith.
Margaret is survived by three sons, James J. Foley and his wife Judith of Woburn, Francis Foley and his wife Gail of West Brookfield, Harold Foley and his wife Sarah Callahan of Wellesley, two daughters, Anne Santry and her husband William of Winchester, Maureen Flaherty and her husband Kevin of Woburn; and she was preceded in death by one son, the late Robert E. Foley. She is also survived by one sister, Agnes Carson of Woburn; a sister in law, Rita Lee of Woburn; a daughter in law, Martha of Wakefield; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and many caring nieces, nephews, and grandnieces & grandnephews.
The funeral will be held from the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Wednesday, September 19 at 9:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, Woburn at 10:00 am. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 4-8 pm. Burial will be at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
