Nancy Magnuson, 102, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday evening, March 4 at Palm Manor Nursing Home
in North Chelmsford. Born July 19, 1909 in Hastveda, Sweden, she was the daughter of the late Nils and Hanna (Johnson) Nilsson, one of nine children.
She came to the United States in 1929. She was the wife of the late Gustav Magnuson, and lived in Woburn for 65 years.
Nancy was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn, the Redeemer Women’s Club, and Vasa Order of America. She enjoyed working in her garden and walking, and she loved to dance. She is especially remembered by her grandchildren for her delicious Swedish pancakes and coffee bread. Nursing home residents and staff enjoyed hearing her singing Swedish songs and hymns.
Nancy leaves a daughter, Eleanor Johnson and
her husband Norman of Tewksbury; two sons, Kenneth Magnuson and his wife Sally of Plano, TX; John Magnuson and his wife Barbara of Westford; eight grandchildren: Lisa Johnson of Tewksbury, Lynn Cheney of Wilmington, Bruce
Magnuson of San Antonio, TX., Kristen Rasor of McKinney, TX, Beth Rivet of Groton, Laurie Cain of Franklin, Keith Magnuson of Portland, ME, and Jeffrey Magnuson of Westford. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren:
Kenneth and Grayson Magnuson of San Antonio, TX; Brooke Rasor of McKinney,TX; Sarah Cheney of Wilmington; Jack, Benjamin, William, Madeleine and
Sam Rivet of Groton; Jared, Ethan and Noah Cain of Franklin; Annalise and Luke Magnuson of Westford; and Jacob Magnuson of Portland, ME. Nancy is further survived by a sister, Ella Berg , and a brother, Harry Nilsson, both of Sweden.
A funeral service will be held at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday, March 8
at 10:00 am, followed by interment at the Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lutheran Church of the
