Nicholas C. Varoutsos, 90, of Woburn, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday Morning, November 24. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Xenakis) Varoutsos who died in July of this year.
Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late Constantine and Angeliki Varoutsos. Nick proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He continued serving his country as a civilian aircraft mechanic at both Westover and Hanscom Air Force Bases. He furthered his career at General Electric Aircraft Engines Division until his retirement. Nick lived a family centered life participating in his children's and grandchildren's lives. He was an active member of AHEPA, the Masons, and his beloved Greek Orthodox Church.
Nick was the loving father of Nina Varoutsos of Woburn and Nicholas Varoutsos and his wife Barbara of North Andover, MA; and the adored grandfather of Julia, Matthew and Brian. He was the brother of Esther Woods of Illinois, Mary Koniares of York, Maine and the late Dora Velisaris, Sara Potamis, Helen Bakis, Athena Pratt, Annette Varoutsos, Christie Varoutsos, Peter Varoutsos, Niko Varoutsos, Dionisios Varoutsos, Louis Varoutsos, and John Varoutsos.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Tuesday, November 27 at 11:00 am. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd. in Woburn on Monday evening from 4-8 pm. Burial will be at the Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In the spirit of his generosity to many charities and causes, donations in his memory may be made to the Endowment Fund of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA 01801.
