Woburn 6th Grade Basketball Holiday Tournament Champs!
In what was described as the most intense back and forth game seen in years of Woburn travel basketball. The Woburn girls 6th grade team defeated the Tewksbury girls 6th grade team to capture the tournament championship. The Woburn girls lost to Tewksbury the day before in a non-pool game. The Woburn girls wanted a rematch in the worst way after that loss and got it when both teams made the finals. The game was a battle right from the tip off. Both teams took leads of no more than 2 to 4 points. Woburn had a 21-20 lead at the half. The second half was just as intense. Both teams were playing tuff defense and attacking the basket but with just over a minute left in the game Woburn jumped out to a 45-39 lead. Tewksbury came down and buried a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 3 points. After a final desperation shot Woburn won the Championship by a score of 45-42. All of the girls played amazing in this game. We made some key free throws down the stretch for a very nice win.
