WOBURN, Mass. –– The community of Woburn has enthusiastically embraced the Public, Educational and Government (PEG) access television and has developed the best local programming in the area.
To foster interest and growth in our public access stations, the WPMC Board of Directors has formed a scholarship committee that will award a Woburn student a $500.00 scholarship this May. The committee plans to make the award an annual event.
“This scholarship demonstrates that the staff and the Board of Directors at the WPMC are committed to promoting community participation in our cable station,” said WPMC Executive Director Brian Ouellette. “The new Woburn Memorial High School has a state-of-the-art cable television studio and we anticipate student involvement will be a cornerstone of our programming and development. This scholarship fits perfectly with the WPMC vision.”
The purpose of the Woburn Public Media Center Scholarship is to promote dedication to the field of public access media and communication. Applicants should be planning to study the field of communication, media, visual arts, or have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of public access television by volunteering or participating as a member at WPMC.
The scholarship award is $500.00. The application deadline is April 18th, 2011. To obtain an application or for more information, stop by the WPMC front desk, call 781-937-8210 X200 or email woburnpublicmediactr@comcast.net.
