5T: Catch Up On The Week in Police News

Make sure to check in with today's column of news, events, history and more.

Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

1) Track meet

The Woburn Memorial High School's boys and girls indoor track teams will compete in a meet at the Reggie Lewis center in Boston today. Meet starts at 9 a.m. today.

2) Zoo Lights

The neighboring town of Stoneham is the home of Zoo Lights at the Stone Zoo. The lights will continue to shine until New Year's, so take some time over vacation to see all the sights and sounds of this holiday celebration.

3) A cold sun

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, it will be sunny but very chilly today! The NWS says Woburn won't reach more than 37 degrees today. Grab those brand-new mittens and scarves from Christmas and bundle up!

4) In case you missed it

We recapped the week in Woburn Police news on Sunday. Click here if you missed the round-up, which included a high school student being struck by a car as he ran to the school and another student killed in a fiery crash in Malden.

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Dec. 26 events in Woburn was:

  • 1889—'No' The Word in Woburn—The Manufacturers' Association and the executive board of the Knights of Labor met in Woburn. The Knights rejected the terms of the employers.
