5T: North Woburn Projects On City Council Agenda

Catch up on Woburn news, information, events, history and more.

Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

1) CVS & Mr. Charlie's

The City Council Sub-Committees will meet tonight to discuss several hot topic issues: the Armory, the moving of Mr. Charlie's to the Convenient 38/Dunkin' Donuts strip mall, and the proposed CVS at the Mr. Charlie's site in North Woburn. Meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Committee Room

2) Toys for Tots

Now that Thanksgiving is over, most will be looking toward the winter holidays. The Kimball Court Apartments residents are collecting unwrapped toys for the Toys For Tots program. If you want to help, click here to find out how to donate!

3) Pinterest is *awesome*

Well, we think so! Woburn Patch is having a lot of fun with our new Pinterest account. Check it out here and start following our pins. We have several Woburn-related boards there and will be adding to our online tack board too! Follow us and let us know if we should be following you too.

4) In case you missed it

The weekly recap of Woburn Police news was shortened due to the holiday, but we promise to catch up today! Here's what happened during most of the week in Sunday's recap: Five Police Incidents That Had Woburn Talking.

5) Headlines in history

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? Some headlines in newspapers regarding Nov. 26 events in Woburn were:

  • 1893—Two Stephens—Men with same name run into problem. One is charged with forgery, other wants his "dividends."
  • 1898—Woburn Democrats—A large attendance of democrats selected candidates for alderman and delegates.
  • 1923—Arrest in Death of Woburn Man—A 69-year-old man dies of broken neck. Some believe it's foul play, accused says man fell down stairs.
