Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:
1) Speed limit discussion
Although it's almost holiday break time, the city's boards and councils are still meeting. The Traffic Commission is meeting this afternoon at 4 p.m. in the City Council chambers. On the agenda? A request to reduce the speed limit on Washington Street from the Winchester line to Montvale Avenue. Also, safety improvements on Grape Street and crosswalk at Acorn and Willow streets.

3) More sunshine!
According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, we'll enjoy a little more sunshine today. Temperatures will be in the 40s for most of the day, before it cools down to the 30s at night. Expect some rain after dark, as well. (That rain is going to stay with us on Friday, too.)
4) In case you missed it
Over 200 New England area police officers, including Woburn Police Sgt. Charles Stokes and Officer Tom Negri, drove over 12 hours yesterday from Burlington to Virginia to meet a young boy with cancer. You can follow their trek from yesterday and see how they meet Nathan today here.

That area of Washington Street has needed slower speed limits for years. And the crosswalks also need to be made more visible. And The Willow St/ Acorn st area needs it as well. All those kids walking at the Joyce, Drivers don't obey the speed limit there at all.
