B.Good Wants To Be Good To Your Body

New restaurant promises to serve "real food fast."

The newest eatery on Mall Road in Burlington is B.Good. This local burger joint chain serves up "real.food.fast" and is dedicated to providing their patrons with fresh food from local farmers and that's processed on site. All the meat for the burgers is ground at the location and doesn't come frozen in pre-formed patties. The sign out front tells you who grinds the meat that day and where the meat comes from. B.Good is the brainchild of friends Anthony and Jon who both wondered why there weren't more restaurants that had healthier fast food options in the area. After much planning, they opened their first location in Boston in 2003 and new locations, including the one in Burlington, have been added on since.

What can you expect at B.Good? Real food, that's what. "Real" meaning local and fresh. B.Good specializes in burgers made by hand and using all-natural, locally raised beef that is ground in house. Not a red-meat kind of person? B.Good also offers turkey burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and veggie burgers made from natural ingredients like black beans, carrots, corn, spinach, wild rice, etc. (no fake-meat soy patties here!). Each of the four burgers are served up in various styles including the basic Cousin Oliver which comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles and other more unique styles like West-Side (avocado, cilantro, salsa), Buffalo, El Guapo (bacon, jalapeno ranch, lettuce, tomato & onion), Adopted Luke (mushrooms, onions, swiss cheese and bbq sauce) and a seasonal special based on what is available locally. Cheese usually comes from local farmers and they'll list the location on their blackboard.

Want fries with that? B.Good has exceptional fries including hand-cut fries made from russett potatoes. We highly recommend their delicious sweet potatoes which are perfectly fried and lightly salted. Other sides include stir-fried veggies and a rotating selection of a locally grown vegetables. Want something other than burgers and fries? Try one of B.Good's fully-loaded salads including their Chicken Caesar, Grilled Mediterranean and Southwestern Chicken. They also have a seasonal selection which right now is a fall salad of mesclun greens topped with roasted pears, butternut squash, cheddar, candied walnuts and more.

Thirsty? B.Good makes their own milk and fruit shakes. The milkshakes are made with Toscanini's ice cream from Cambridge or with non-fat frozen yogurt. You can get the shakes in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate (regular or malt) and drunk elvis which is chocolate, peanut butter and banana. Fruit shakes include mango, strawberry-banana and a selected in-season fruit. They also have homemade lime-lemonade and strawberry lemonade along with various sodas.

Burgers don't come with any sides or drinks but B.Good has reasonably priced combos in which you can combine an order of fries, veggies, a drink or a shake with your order of a burger or salad. Service is friendly. Order at the counter and they'll call you by name to pick up your meal. You can take it to-go or sit in one of their various booths, tables or window bars. B.Good also offers catering services. They'll host a BBQ at your home or work. They have an Ice Cream Truck and a Shake Cart which they'll bring to your desired location to whip up some of their classic shakes. You can also order ahead to pick up for your own party needs.

So if you are in Burlington and need a fast (but healthy) meal, stop by B.Good! You won't be disappointed.
