Woburn Patch Local Editor Danielle Masterson was pretty excited to be joining her big sister at the Hood School in North Reading. Here she is on her first day of kindergarten on Sept. 13, 1982. You'll see the little Polly Flanders dress - her favorite! - and white knee-high socks which was all the rage back in the early 80s. All that's missing from the photo is patent-leather shoes. Don't worry, they're there. And the banana curls? All Mom! Thanks, Mom!

We've all been there: the first day of school. And if your parents owned any sort of picture-taking device, there is likely evidence of said first day lying around your home somewhere (or perhaps in a place of honor on Mom's living room wall).

With Woburn students heading back to school today, we thought it would be fun to take a closer look at that special milestone.

The pictures are already all over Facebook: kids on the first day of school—whether its preschool, kindergarten, elementary school or even college.

Now let's put them on Patch. Simply click the "Upload Photos and Videos" button at the top of the image gallery above and upload photos of you and/or your kids to the gallery. Put the year it was taken in the caption, or make us guess. Then check back later to see your friends' and neighbors' photographs.
