Here are five things you need to know today:
1) More sunshine
We never get tired of this forecast! The National Weather Service says Woburn will be a sunny delight today with a high of temperature of 85 degrees.
2) Lutheran history in Woburn
Did you know that today marks the anniversary of the Lutheran Church in Woburn? The congregation was formed on July 25, 1893 by a group of Swedish immigrants. The group was led by N.E. Kron and met in Fraternity Hall. The state formally recognized the church on Sept. 5, 1893 and it became the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church. Read more about the congregation's history here.
3) Event Spotlight
It's Wednesday, so that means free concert night at the BrickYard! Join The Tom Pittman Band Featuring Linda Chase for music outside the BrickYard at Jack Marlowe Park in downtown Woburn. The fun begins at 6 p.m.
4) Follow us!
Do you like Twitter? Even if you don't want to communicate with people, it's a great way to receive communication. Especially from your very favorite web site, Woburn Patch. We post several times a day with links to stories and important alerts (think traffic accidents and weather reports). Follow us on Twitter—if you're not already!—by clicking here.
5) Everyone is a fan of someone
On this day in 1941, automobile pioneer Henry Ford penned a fan letter to Mahatma Gandhi. In the letter, Ford praised Gandhi for his civil disobedience actions. According to historians, Ford wanted the British out of India and felt Gandhi was taking the right approach to that end. The letter is housed in the Henry Ford Museum and Library.
