Five Things You Need To Know Today, June 20

Today will be sizzling...

Here are five things you need to know today:

1) Sizzling!: Today is going to be an absolute sizzler! The National Weather Service says we could see a high temperature of 97 with sunny skies. But our heat index could reach over 100 degrees! We don't know about you, but we here at Woburn Patch love the heat and are pretty happy with that forecast!

2) Library hours: Now that it's summer officially, the Woburn Public Library will be closed on Saturdays until after Labor Day weekend. The library will remain open on weekdays.

3) Event Spotlight: The Board of Appeals will hold a meeting tonight at City Hall to discuss the Woburn 38 Development at 1042 Main St. According to the agenda, the company is seeking a modification to its comprehensive permit. The board is also expected to hear a complaint regarding an Open Meeting Law violation. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall Chambers.

4) In Case You Missed It: An international biotech firm has moved into Woburn. The Dutch company Batavia Bioservices has a lab at the Cummings Properties Tradecenter 128. Read all about it here.

5) Don't go in the water... : On this day in 1975, the movie Jaws opened in American theaters. The thriller told the story of a great white shark that takes up residence in a New England ocean town and starts eating tourists. Whoopsie. The film featured a huge mechanical shark and a $12 million budget. It also made a lot of people afraid to go in the water!
