The WPL Teen Book Club starts tonight.
Today is Friday, Sept. 16. Here are five things you need to know:
1) A touch of fall: Seems like fall is here to stay. Someone break out the pumpkins! The National Weather Service is expecting sunshine and temperatures to stay in the 60s today.
2) Attention teens!: The Woburn Public Library’s Teen Book Club will hold its first meeting of the school year tonight at 7 p.m. Meet Teen Library Christi Showman-Farrar, read a great book and have a lot of fun.
3) WMHS golf: The Woburn Memorial High School boys’ varsity golf team will take on Wakefield High at the Woburn Country Club today at 3 p.m.
4) In case you missed it: Woburn Police were busy Saturday morning and afternoon after a suspect in a Burlington assault ran through Woburn and was finally captured at the Showcase Cinemas. The search lasted just over an hour before police caught the suspect. Read all about it here.
5) ‘We were goodfellas, wiseguys’: On this day in 1990, the Martin Scorsese film Goodfellas premiered in American theaters. The movie has held up as one of the best Mafia films made, up there with the Godfather. Goodfellas starred Ray Liotta as Henry Hill, who was a gangster turned FBI informant in the 1950s and 60s. It also starred Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Lorraine Bracco.
