Freddie Mercury and Toby Keith in Woburn tonight (technically).
Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:
1) Event spotlight
The band Queen is keeping Freddie Mercury's memory alive in many ways, including a remastered re-release of the concert film Hungarian Rhapsody - Queen Live in Budapest '86 in theaters across the country. The film will be screened in Woburn tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Showcase Cinemas. You can also see the film again on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 2 p.m.
2) Red Solo Cup...
Let's have a party! The Bar, located inside The Restaurant on Main Street, is holding a Red Solo Cup party, just like the Toby Keith song. Head on over tonight and win free prizes. Click here for all the info!
3) Cooler temps wil prevail
According to the National Weather Service, it's probably going to be a sunny day here in Woburn. The NWS is predicting sunny skies with a slight wind. Expect it to stay in the 60s, as we enjoy some fall weather.
4) In case you missed it
There was a lot going on at Woburn Patch yesterday—a police log featuring a rumor about teen sex, along with a man giving his neighbor the finger over a dog issue; a Woburn man was charged with racketeering and extortion, among other things; and nearby Winchester laid Glen Doherty to rest as his family, including Woburn resident and his mother Barbara, mourned.
5) Lewis & Clark
On this day in 1806, Meriweather Lewis and William Clark arrived at the village of La Charette, after exploring Western lands for over two years. During the expedition, Lewis and Clark worked with Native American tribes to explore the upper areas of Missouri and traveled all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Two days later, the men returned to St. Louis, where they had begun their trip in 1804.
