U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested in Woburn a 23-year-old Honduran national as part of an operation called "Threats Against the Community" that led to 39 arrests in the Boston area.

The operation took place over three days beginning on Aug. 7, according to an announcement from the agency, which is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

All 39 of the people arrested had criminal convictions, many for violent crimes, the agency said. It is seeking to deport the individuals.

The three-day operation was part of the "National Criminal Alien Program, which is responsible for locating, arresting and removing at-large criminal aliens," according to the announcement.

The Honduran national arrested in Woburn had a conviction possession with the intent to distribute illegal narcotics, according to an email from the Department of Homeland Security. The person, not named, arrested in Woburn was not a resident of the city.

The Honduran national is in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility and awaits an appearance before an immigration judge with the Executive Office for Immigration Review, who will determine if he will be deported, according to the email.

The arrests in "Threats Against the Community" took place in Boston, Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Lynn, New Bedford, Revere, Somerville and Woburn.

Those arrested had convictions for crimes such as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, asaault and battery of a police officer, sexual assault, drug dealing and other crimes, according to the announcement.
