What I noticed early during the storm, the trucks did not have chains on their tires while plowing. Leading to the plow truck getting stuck two or three times around the neighborhood, after getting stuck, the street plowing decreased; so, I will give the vendors who plow for the city a “D”

Considering what they were dealing with, I would say they did OK. It was blowing back over the roads almost as fast as they plowed them. Usually our section of town gets forgotten until the late hours of a storm, But this time they were right on it. I give them a B. Commerce way was awful, I agree, but overall a decent job.

Some small streets where I'm guessing public officials live are down to pavement while other more traveled roads are a frozen mess. Our storm drain on Montvale Rd has a mountain of snow left on it that no residents will be able to move. C-

All things considered, the plowing was pretty good. Main roads where better than side roads. My biggest concern are the snow banks on corners obstructing traffic.

I too think the City of Woburn did a good job considering the size of this storm. I say a B as well. I live on the corner of Bedford Rd and the sidewalks have already been done and the streets look pretty good. Those giving the City a D should take a drive over to Arlington. The streets were still nearly impassable yesterday. This was no small task and I think in general Woburn does a very good job, especially compared to many other towns and cities.

let's face it guys. It's not an easy job and while those drivers are running on fumes and cheap coffee while we're inside our homes or with company. These guys work crazy hours and don't stop. There's only so much they can do with so much snow coming down.

I give them an A. My street and the streets around were well plowed. I drove Sat night to get dinner and once you got into surrounding towns you could notice a major difference. I've always thought that Woburn does a great job with plowing.

F my street is not done

C- for me. There are entire lanes that were only 50% plowed. I understand that snow blows back over etc, but why isn't a system in place to get the main stuff one day and cleaup duty the next instead of having people out there for 8 hours straight, getting tired of doing the roads, and doing a half assed job?

HOWEVER i have to add one thing...other towns are FAR worse. Burlington missed ENTIRE lanes and Waltham is a mess beyond belief. I dont want to grade Woburn in comparison to other towns, I want to grade on my town on its own so im giving it a C-. Most other towns an F from what i've seen.

The plowing down by the Pond was terrible. They came by a couple of times early in the evening and then nothing until the wee hours of the morning. We had ALL the cars off the road but they still basically only plowed one side of the street. Luckily our neighbor has a plow and was able to widen the road a little. But one end is so narrow that I had to wait forever this morning to get out to get to work because my neighbor was getting an heating oil delivery and there was no way anyone could get by him. So several of us that had to go to work were late because we had to wait till the truck moved. If an emergency vehicle had to get by while the delivery was in progress, they would have been out of luck as we are a dead end and that is the only way in or out.

Considering what we pay them for, I think that the Department of Public Works did an excellent job. They were trying to keep up with a storm that was one of the top ten since we have been keeping records, given less money, personnel, and equipment, they managed to keep the main streets passable and make sure people could get out of the side streets. Did everyone get a perfect job? No. But you are talking about crews that were working for a couple of days and are out again today.

If you see a member of the Department of Public Works, take a moment and thank them. Given the size of Woburn, they did a great job. If you don't believe me, take a trip around some of the other communities, or visit my friend in CT whose street was just plowed this morning. Just enough for one car to use.

Also, yesterday the DPW was dealing with a water main break at the Woburn Rotary. so they had a lot on the plate to deal with

TERRIBLE. South Woburn is always overlooked and only gets plowed when you call and complain multiple times. Go take a look at Highland Street, Conn Street, Mt. Pleasant Street.....you will be driving on 3-6 inches of snow. Also, Franklin Street, Plympton Street and Flagg Street are barely plowed and only allow for 1 car to get by.

I understand during the storm, but more than 24 hours after snow stopped? Step it up

West Woburn was only area done. I live in north woburn which wasnt great either . but one company I did give a A is to grant landscaping , believe they work for the city when needed and they were always around all hrs ... city of woburn trucks I didn't even see around the town. .

I haven't left my house since I got home Thursday night but I can tell they made a few passes on my street, not very wide though.

I was impressed with Woburn General Plowing. I live on a somewhat main street, and they were all circling like sharks to get the job done. The only downside was they plowed about 4' into the street away from my Driveway which caused me to do extra work than I should have. Driving through other towns Woburn seems to have their act together...B

My neighborhood..reed st, foster st, and munroe st...still absolutely deplorable. Please come take care of these streets! Now with the rain theyre all going to freeze up. I'm surprised and disappointed with the lack of attention this neighborhood received.

I say thank you to all the city workers who plowed all night and all day so emergency vehicles could get through.

considering the size of the storm, they did okay. My street is not wide enough for 2 cars to go by each other. The mail man didn't leave any mail today because he couldn't get to the mail box. I haven't seen a plow in 2 days. They should come back and widen the streets. I live in West Woburn.

people need to realize the snow was falling quicker than it could get plowed! with more than 2 feet of snow your not going to have roads plowed right to the curb its just not gonna happen! the guys that were out there plowing for more than 27 hours straight need some rest too. while you people were in your house watching tv with your feetie pjs on these guys were out there day and night! main streets are always the main concern in any storm. they did their best with the hand they were dealt and i would like to say thank you to all the drivers for the hard work you put in over the course of the storm. good job guys!

I have never seen snow anywhere near like this until I moved here. The most I've ever seen is maybe 3 inches a few times. So I think just the fact they they mobilized so many people and they moves so much snow, I say they did a pretty good job. I don't think they should have school tomorrow though. I don't want my kids walking on sthe street because the sidewalks are not clear,

PS. I was working 16 hours plus two days straight during the storm. I was not home "wearing my feety pajamas and watching TV" and even if I was what does it matter? We all can agree that the storm brought us a lot of snow. I am not talking about the conditions of the roads the day of the storm & the day after the storm. I can see and appreciate that the City was trying to do the best job that they can so with the plowing situation. I am talking about today, Monday, 3 days after the storm and our neighborhood has still not been given any attention. All I ask is for sand, salt, plow - whatever they decide to do - to clear our neighborhood. Please keep us in mind for the next storm after all we are 2 blocks away from the City Yard.

Great job on Markham. That's a huge amount of snow to move on our cul de sac. Other towns next door were horrible. Not sure about sidewalks for schools?

I also saw a city of woburn parks dept truck plow out a driveway for someone. my street is so bad a car could not get up the hill. it took the guy 4x to make to the top

What difference doe it make now? everyone has called the DPW, City Hall, Their Ward Alderman probably numerous times. It falls on deaf ears. The fact is that the DPW crew did an outstanding job in the face of a 30 inch blizzard. Yes, yesterday would have been the day to get out and open up the roads and sidewalks, instead they had a water line repair to handle. As for having to go around to clan up what the contractors already got paid for, I agree with Dan on that. 4 wheel drive pick-ups trying to move snow coming down at 3 inches an hour is a waste of taxpayer money. The city needs to hire contractors with a minimum 2 and 1/2 ton truck to plow for them. We end up paying twice what we should have for snow removal otherwise. I still give them a B for the job they did.

Criticizing is the easiest thing people can do. I think the city and all the contractors worked hard to make it happen. Woburn streets were better than the other towns. Thanks again for all the hard work and the long hours they work to keep us safe.
