Irish Pub Moving Into Spuds?
Waxy O'Connors is due for a License Commission meeting tonight.
Woburn could be adding an Irish pub to its restaurant selection soon.
Waxy O'Connors—an Irish pub chain—is on the city's License Commission agenda for tonight to give an update on its status at 1 Mack Road.
Spuds was located at the Mack Road restaurant location before it closed its doors in 2011.
Waxy's is a national chain with locations in nearby Lexington; Foxborough, MA; Keene, NH; South Beach, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; and San Antonio, TX.
According to Waxy's website, the pub has "authentic Irish charm and your best choice for exceptional irish food, great drinks and lots of fun... live shows, kararaoke nights, pool tables and darts."
What do you think? Would you go to Waxy O'Connors if it opened up at Spuds? Tell us in the comments.

I would probably go, if nothing else to check it out. Just wish it would be there on Saturday. :)

Yes! Woburn needs a decent pub aside from Tanner and Sea Dog. I would definitely go there!

It's a national chain - it's about as Irish as my chinese mother in law.

Seriously - if I want authentic Irish pubs - I will head into Somerville - where there are plenty of 'real Irish pubs'. No pool tables, no teriyaki, no shamrocks on the wall etc etc. I'm all for new pubs in Woburn, I just wish someone would open a pub where TV's and pool tables are not present. The Sea Dog is a restaurant with a small bar.

WELCOME Waxy! For those who haven't been to the Waxy's in San Antonio (yes, Texas) it is one of the best bars on the Riverwalk (including Coyote Ugly) in regards to the service and the vibe. I say it's about time someone took on the old Spuds and sparked some life into this section of Woburn!

Hi all,
Okay, I just got a note that my previous post of "I would probably go, if nothing else to check it out. Just wish it would be there on Saturday. :) Frank" was flagged as inappropriate and removed. Can anyone tell me why it was inappropriate? Or am I just running into one of those glitches in the system?

Unfortunately, it was not a glitch, Frank. After an investigation into the comments this afternoon, we discovered someone was going in and flagging all comments from the last week as "inappropriate," even though they were not, in an attempt to abuse the system. I just spent the last 20 minutes restoring them all. Hopefully the problem is solved! Thank you! :)

Thank you Danielle, that makes sense. I was just concerned.

Nothing to worry about, Frank! :) Your comments are always OK! If it happens again, and I don't see it right away, definitely let me know. I'm hoping the problem is solved, but you never know!!

I think it's another wonderful offering in Woburn that is conveniently off the highway and close to Cummings Park. A very strategic location and quite benefcial to the city. Let's go for it---better than empty space!
