The following is a letter to the editor:

Sunday, I drove through each street in Ward 1 to check on conditions. The vast amount of snow that had been plowed was impressive. 

I would like to commend the DPW for its hard work and effort to keep our streets open and our city safe. They worked through the night and day while most of us were safely in our homes. And they are still working now in order to make it possible for people to traverse our streets and go about their business.  

I also want to thank the residents of Ward 1 who were out there helping their neighbors and were doing their part to get the storm behind us. I was struck by the fact that the people I talked to didn't complain in spite of the difficult conditions. Instead they were lending each other a hand and making the best of what Mother Nature dealt us.

The scenario was played out across the ward and I am once again grateful to be representing people with such strong community spirit and strength in the face of adversity.
