Minor Stream and Street Flooding Possible Tuesday

Rain combined with melting snow from the storm at the end of last week could cause minor flooding in streams Tuesday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said.

After the winter we've had so far, the warmer weather to start the week has been a welcome respite, but could cause flooding problems when rain passes through the area on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for Woburn and much of Eastern and Central Massachusetts, in effect from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning.

Up to an inch of rainfall is expected on Tuesday, which combined with melting snow from the storm at the end of last week could cause some small streams to experience minor flooding, the NWS said.

"Poor drainage street flooding is likely Tuesday afternoon and evening, especially where snow is blocking catch basins," the NWS said in the food watch statement. "This could have an impact on the Tuesday evening rush hour."

Woburn's forecast for Tuesday is rain mainly after 11 a.m. with a high temperature near 54. The evening hours should see showers until around 1 a.m. and a low around 38.
