The Telly Awards has named Woburn based Plasma Films as a winner in two categories in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards for their piece titled Woburn: A Farming Community.  One of the awards was for Cable Documentary and the other was for Editing.  With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.

This brand new look at the farming industry in Woburn included new interviews, new pictures and farms that were not covered in the 2007 PowerPoint presentation. Written by Bob Maguire and Kathy Lucero, the film, produced by Brian Ouellette, drew a large crowd for its 2011 debut showing in the Flaherty Auditorium at Woburn Memorial High School.

The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films.  Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.  The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards.  “Plasma Films’ accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

“When we make these films for the Historical Society, our goal is to produce the most professional quality end product that we possibly can,” said Brian Ouellette, producer and editor at Plasma Films.  “Without the research and interviews of Kathy Lucero and the writing style of Bob Maguire, none of this would be possible.”

Plasma Films was founded in 2006 by Woburn resident Brian Ouellette.  His video production company started out as an event videography venture and has grown into a small scale documentary production company after joining with the Woburn Historical Society.  These are Plasma Films’ third and fourth Telly Awards.   In 2008, Plasma Films won its first Telly with the Woburn Historical Society for a piece titled Woburn:  A Leather City, written by John McElhiney and Kathy Lucero.  In 2010, Plasma Films won for a film produced by the trustees of the Woburn Public Library titled Your Community, Your Library, written and directed by Woburn’s own Claire I. Murphy.
