POLICE LOG: Neighbor Accused of Hurting Dog

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Featured Call of the Day:

Oct. 18 – At 6:22 p.m., police responded to a neighborhood dispute on Merrimac Street. According to police, one man reported that a neighbor may be targeting their dog in an attempt to hurt it. Chicken bones and uncooked bacon have been found in the yard where the dog goes out. The reporting party stated the dog had to be taken to the vet after the chicken bone incident.

Other Incidents:

Oct. 18 –

At 10:34 a.m., a groundskeeper at St. Charles Church reported about 30-feet of copper piping stolen.

At 5:31 p.m., police conducted a well being check at West Cummings Park. According to police, a woman left an Alcoholics Anonymous class in an altered state. Police found the woman outside in the parking lot and drove the woman home. Police took the woman’s car key from her so that she could not drive. The officer returned the key to her at the end of his shift.

At 7:10 p.m., a 54-year-old Woburn man was taken into protective custody after police received a report of a man lying on the ground on Salem Street. Police found the man, who was speaking with slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. The man was taken into custody at that time.

At 8:34 p.m., Harinder Mohan Singh, 49, of 13 Totman Dr. Apt. #B, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (Smith & Wesson handgun) and intoxicated licensee carrying a firearm. For complete story, click here.

I would just like to clarify the report on October 18th regarding a woman leaving an Alcoholic Anonymous class. AA is NOT an educational agency so therefore it does not offer classes. The reporter was probably referring to one of the two alcohol and drug treatment centers located in West Cummings Park. Furthermore, there are no AA meetings in Woburn on Thursday. I would hope that the reporter would be more careful in their reporting in the future.

Thank you for the clarification, Jean. As noted at the top of each police log, these posts are "an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log" and are taken directly from the Woburn Police Department records.
