TELL US: Do You Want A Casino in Woburn?

Two companies have filed bids for casinos with no location. Would you welcome them to Woburn?

The bids are in and 11 companies are now vying for the rights to build a casino in Massachusetts. While most connected their bids to locations—Suffolk Downs and land along the Mystic River are just two of them—Chicago millionaire Neil Bluhm and the Cordish Company filed bids with no location.

What would happen if they opted for land in Woburn?

As a resident would you welcome a casino? Would you use a casino for your own recreational purposes?

Never...It hurts the poor and keeps them down! It would be a disgrace! Shame on the government for having $20 dollar scratch tickets! The only people I see in line for this are the poor...DISGRACE!!!!

That's what these places are geared to. They love it when they line up at the machines. EBT cards would be welcome at the tables as well. That way they can gamble on our dime. It wouldn't come to Woburn anyways, These places require acres of property for Casino parking/show parking etc. I don't think there is that much space in Woburn. There are not any tracts that big left even in the industrial park in the Northeast corner, unless they buy up all the companies located there and raze the buildings.

No I would not welcome a casino in Woburn. It is a beautiful city. There are enough gambling casinos out there as it is and all within traveling distance, for those who gamlble. I do not throw hard earned money away. To me gambling is the same as throwing your money out the window. If that happened I would surely leave Woburn and it's beauty and all it has to offer it's citizens. :)

Not sure why this question is even being posed, considering that the deadline for applications for casino licenses came and went, without anyone interested or proposing a casino or slot parlor in Woburn or really near Woburn. Also, Earnhardt, if I remember correctly, the articles I read about EBT reform that happened just recently included casinos and gaming institutions as restricted uses under EBT.

I'll take a Casino over hotles filled with "welfare hacks" any day. They could take the combined site of the former GMC dealership and Wr Grace lot on Washington St.

I'd rather people spend money in Woburn than have it given to another State or Indian tribe.

You are right Jed, they could however stop at the money machine in the entrance and withdraw the funds. Thanks for the clarification though.

I would not want a casino in woburn because it would over tax the police and fire depts. The fire dept is understaffed as it is.
