UPDATE: Water Work Thursday, Not Friday

MWRA will also conduct work next week.

Thursday, 1:45 p.m.—According to information provided by Mayor Scott Galvin's office, water work is being done on Montvale Avenue today and not Friday, April 6.

The Mayor's office posted information on the city's website earlier this week saying it was Friday, but contacted Woburn Patch today, saying it is Thursday, April 5.

Thursday, 5 a.m.—Traffic will be detoured this Friday, April 6, due to water work by the city's Department of Public Works.

According to the DPW, Montvale Avenue from Prospect to Fairmount streets, will be shut down between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Good Friday. The DPW will be installing new gates into the system as part of the city's Water Improvement Plan, said a statement on the city's website.

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will also conduct water work in Woburn next week.

According to the MWRA, there will be water valve work done on Washington Street next Wednesday that may cause discolored water for up to three days.

The MWRA warns that the water is safe for cooking and drinking, but will stain light-colored clothing if used to clean laundry.
