What Did You Think of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick's DNC Speech?
The Massachusetts governor had delegates on their feet Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, but did his speech resonate with you? Let us know by posting a comment below.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick came out firing Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, attacking his predecessor Mitt Romney's record in the Bay State.
"Mitt Romney talkes a lot about all the things he's fixed," he said. "I can tell you that Massachusetts wasn't one of them. He's a fine fellow and a great salesman, but as governor he was more interested in having the job than doing it."
By the end of his speech, which touched on President Barack Obama's first-term accomplishments, the economy, role of government and the American Dream, Patrick had the packed crowd of delegates on their feet and in a frenzy, but we want to know:
How did Patrick's speech play here in Massachusetts? Were you a fan of the governor's remarks? Or did his words fall on deaf ears? Let us know by posting a comment below.

I never thought much of Governor Patrick, especially after he spent 85k on redoing his office that included a $10,000 Persian rug, but, after listening to him talk at the Democratic Convention last night, all I can say is - he hit it out of the ball park! Unlike Chris Christie who spent most of his speech selling himself - Patrick spoke of candidate Obama and his (valid) accomplishments. Kudos to him!

A sitting President cannot possibly care about the middle class or disenfranchised when they insure that that dependent class grows instead of emboldening job creation. President Obama prevented a full-blown depression. He saved the auto industry. He repealled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell. He signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. All this in the face of a Republican party whose main focus since day one of Obama's presidency was and still is to ensure that his policies fail! So I agree with you on one point - blaming Bush is not enough. He should be spending more time blaming the ones who stood and continue to stand in the way of moving this country forward.

@ Andrea Obama most certainly did not prevent a full blown depression. As a matter of fact, several indicators were worse than the great depression.
He most certainly did not save the auto industry. Look at the economic indicators of the auto companies who received the bailout. Do the research, please. Those companies have forsaken the people - all people who have invested like teachers unions, iras, mutual funds held by grannies - and wiped them out essentially. Obama should have let the companies fail and rebuild under a new model. Are you not old enough to remember savings and loan crash? Bank of New England come to mind at all after that?
Mike Hullinger
8:44 am on Thursday, September 6, 2012
Andrea,
"He saved the auto industry." This statement is a complete and total falsehood that many supporters of the current administration blindly take as truth. Obama did not save the auto industry. The only thing his administration did do was force through a bankruptcy plan for General Motors that obliterated private bondholder investors, picked winners and losers among the GM dealerships, and transferred ownership of GM to the Federal government and the labor unions whose negotiated labor agreements were financially unsustainable and one of the primary factors driving GM into Bankruptcy. What did Obama do for the rest of the auto industry including Ford, the foregin auto companies manufacturing in the US and the suppliers to these firms? Nothing.

He needs to focus his efforts where it matters, and Massachusetts has ALWAYS been owned "lock, stock, and barrell" by the Democrats. Romney is much smarter than Obama in the sense that Obama is a pro at throwing money (especially taxpayers money) at failed outcomes, and Romney knows where the effort and resources must be focused.

Got close to Romney in my business. He helped "balance" his State budget by suspending, for 3 years, any work on any of our over schools (in over 400 school districts). Today's school building/maintenance program spends $0.5B per year to give you an idea of Romney's savings. A very long wait for those with a toxic or falling-down school, or those teaching 21st century skills in hallways and closets. The first 52 employees of his new, re-built School Building Authority did not include one person from the building or design industries. When the program finally re-started, there was one. This led me to consider that the way a business man, who is only in it for the short term, deals with a problem is to solve his problem first, solve his friends' problems second, and to time his exit to leave the bill with the next person.
Earnhardt
9:03 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2012
And what budget did Obama balance? let's see.. double digit inflation. record unemployment, using public money to bail out GM. Then GM throws together a :Green Auto" that is a joke, trying to show they are attempting to be "Green" they can't even make the pile of junk affordable to the masses that bailed them out! We owe China into the next century and beyond. In fact they own a large chunk of the United States now. Add to that the free give- aways that cost us untold millions of dollars. I would say his budget disaster is far far worse than Romney's ever was.

Remember what Jack Kennedy "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country" that is not the mantra now...it seems to me that people now expect the government to take care of them...how did this happen?
Do you know that 47% of Americans are receiving payments from our government? Do you know that there is no way to pay down the debt with more government jobs because we have to pay the salary of government workers with borrowed money?
Do you know that even if we tax the top 1%, 100% of their salary, yes take all of their annual income, that it would fund our government for only 6-7 months. We can not tax our way out of this debt and must make deep cuts in our spending or we will end up like Greece. Please...take some time and think outside the Party box. 1. Have a job and save for your future.
2. Suck off the system and take your parents into your homes as back in the olden days.
We elders on SS saved for our kids future while we could, along with paying into the system. We didn't need to keep up witht the "Jones" and buy boats, or new cars every three years, and mom's stayed home with their babies because they were the most important people in our lives.
GET A GRiP EVERYONE! Nothing is free. Life is much more gratifying when we have to work for what we have. And, the last thing we should be jealous of is someone that makes it big ! And I'm not talking about those that have it handed to them on a "silver spoon", I'm talking about a person that goes out into the world and makes it better with his God given brain ! Mitt Romney is one of those people. Think about it.... He's not looking to get rich by becoming Presisident. He's set for life by using his brain to boost others. If anyone can't see that, then I'm sorry for you.
