Whiz Kid of the Week: Andrew Winston

Woburn Patch selects Andrew Winston as the Whiz Kid of the Week.

Each week, Woburn Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose Andrew Winston, a 13-year-old student at Joyce Middle School. Winston is a community-service extraordinaire, who recently worked with Gov. Deval Patrick during Project 351.

  • Andrew Winston, 13.
  • Joyce Middle School
  • Andrew's "Key to Awesomeness" is that he is a motivated, outgoing, and friendly young man.  He is a five-year member of the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, where (among many other activities) he participates in the Tanners Torch Club, Intermediate Basketball League, and Science of Sports.  He is also a dedicated and active member of the Best Buddies program at the Joyce Middle School.  Andrew really enjoys helping others, especially through this program, where he and others create opportunities for one-to-one friendships with peers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Family, friends, teachers, and everyone else in Andrew’s life enjoy being in his presence because of his great attitude, his dedication, and his laugh (it’s a good one)!
About this column: "Whiz Kids" is a weekly column featuring individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even teams, who wow us with their accomplishments. Related Topics: Boys & Girls Club, Boys and Girls Club, Deval Patrick, and whizkid
