A team manager from the NE Cal Ripken Regional Tournament, which this year was held in Burlington last summer, is organizing a charity wiffle ball game in Woburn to benefit the victim's fund for the families of the victims of the Newtown shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Mike Winn informed Patch that he was organizing the game in the wake of the tragedy. He said that for the past four years players from Newtown have taken part in the tournament and he and many other members have come to now the players and coaches and wanted to help the community.

"This past summer Burlington hosted an All Star team from Newtown, Conn during the 12 Year Old Cal Ripken Regional Baseball Tournament," Winn said. "The BBSA would like to show our support for the town of Newtown by hosting a charity wiffle ball tournament on Jan 26th and 27th at Extra Innings in Woburn."

According to Winn, the tournament will be set up as a non-competitive tournament where people of all ages can come and play just to have fun and benefit a great cause. They will be signing up teams of 5 for $50 and matching them up with other teams that are around the same age (teams will play a one hour game). They can also block off a whole hour for $100 and have families, neighbors, co-workers, etc play against each other.
