Woburn Could Get Hit by 'Significant Winter Storm' Friday into Saturday
The storm could bring up to a foot of snow in some areas.
We could see some significant snowfall later this week.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of the state, including Woburn, for this Friday and Saturday.
According to the outlook, "Confidence continues to increase in the potential for a very significant winter storm Friday into early Saturday."
According to the NWS, the storm could bring a foot more snow in some locations.
"While light snow may [develop] Friday morning the worst of the storm looks to occur Friday afternoon into early Saturday," the outlook notice states.
The NWS also stated there is a good chance of strong winds in the coastal plains and a probability of flooding along the coast.

I will believe it when I see it. Usually these storms get blown way out of proportion. Especially when the start talking about it a week ahead of time. But we could use at least one big storm before winter is over...

I'm more of a summer person myself but if we do get hit hard I hope that my first grader has an early dismissal so I can get her home safely before too much accumulates.

I agree Charles! I don't see a plow until the storm is over. I hope they keep up with the plowing during a storm. I work at a hospital so I will have to work during the storm. We have easy winter so there should be money to keep the plows moving

It looks like we are going to get hit big. I have to agree with Charles also. In N. Woburn, the plows are always out AFTER the storm. Hope our Alderman is on this early.. (cough cough) . I think unlike the blizzard of 78, I don't think we will be stranded for days at movie theaters and on rte 95...

Earnhardt I do not live in N. Woburn, I think the DPW makes the call as to when the plows go out. If I can't get out I will call the DPW but, I am sure I will get no response from them as usual.

Pat. when you call the DPW and tell them your ST. is not plowed, you probably get the recording. And I agree you get no response. But your Ward Alderman should make the call, He knows who to call and when to call, Our Alderman seems unable to do that or doesn't care.,.. Good luck! if you shovel take a break,

If there is a remote chance of this occurring I would strongly encourage the city to step up the clean up. Many roads and sidewalks are way to narrow and not yet cleared. Piles at corners or to high and make exiting onto main roads dangerous and in some cases the piles are to far into the street eliminating the corner radius all together. Streets Like Green, Vernon and the intersection at Wood and Montvale Ave are good examples. One last point the bus stops for school buses are not cleared the kids will wind up standing in the streets until the bus comes making a very dangerous situation Bus routes should id the pick up points and frontend loaders should used to clear ample space so traffic can see the kids clearly and the kids have a safe place to stand off the street.
