Woburn School Lunches: Do We Have a Problem Here?

A Patch reader is not at all pleased with the new school lunch arrangements.

Patch reader Rick Eckberg writes:

"The new rules for school lunches are absolutely crazy and not working. My son is in 8th Grade at the Joyce and I'm really getting upset hearing that they didnt have everything that they offer on the menu available because it was eaten by the lunches that were before his and what they had available, he didn't like.

"It's bad enough the kids are coming home still hungry because of the new school lunch rules, but now this is absolutely ridiculous. How can the school keep selling out on the most popular lunch items day after day? If there's a larger demand for a certain menu item, why wouldn't they make more? I'm just voicing how I feel about this situation and it would be great if you could find out from other parents if they are dealing with the same issue with their kids."

So, parents (or kids, if you'd like to weigh in here): is there a problem with Woburn school lunches? Are the cafeterias always running out of the items you or your kids want before they have a chance to eat? Let us know in the comments section below.

Yes, last lunch is the worst. Not much is left by then.

Same thing happens at the Kennedy. You would think food services would have figured out that these items sell out every single day, and plan accordingly. It is not fair to those who have the latest lunch to have very little to choose from.

Same at the Reeves. My kids always loved buying lunch because they don't care for sandwiches but tonight they asked if I would start making them sandwhiches. My 2nd grader has last lunch and the only thing available for her is low-fat cereal most days!! Somedays they only have white milk or juice. What are we paying for???? Half of the time they don't even have fruit left during the middle lunch time.

Here is the number for Lisa who is in charge of the lunch program for Woburn Schools. We need to start calling and letting her know what's going on 937-8210 X 133
