Woburn's Week in Social Media

A look at chatter across social media this week.

Here at Woburn Patch, social media is a big deal.

Social media is one way we interact with you, answer your questions and get to see what's on your mind. Social Media Saturday is a weekly feature where we highlight your questions and thoughts you've shared on Facebook and other media throughout the past week.

We'll also point you to some new and interesting pages you may not have known about before.

Overheard on Facebook

Here is a sampling of comments and happenings on our Facebook page and the social media world from the past week:

  • We moved up to over 1,350 fans on Facebook this week!
  • It was a quiet week on our Facebook page this week—where was everyone?!— but our story on School Committee member Joe Crowley's visit to the Hurld School PTO meeting got six quick likes after it was posted.
  • When we posted information on a third indictment in connection with the line-of-duty-death of Woburn Police Officer John "Jack" Maguire, Sue Schneider Sullivan shared, "I miss Jack dearly...as does his wonderful family. We must not this happen ever again. Cinellli should NEVER have been let out! Please remember this and push lawmakers to pass Melissa's Bill... Thanks so much!"
  • We unveiled a new look Woburn Patch main page this week, which included a patch of green grass in the margins. Keith Anderson said the page looked "nice!" while Raquel Matos said, "Looks good! I'm hoping the Patch will make a dedicated Column page more easily accesible though." Brian Ouellette told us the new-look page is "Patchtastic!!" But we did hear that the page can be a bit distracting, as Irene Simas said, "I like the Patch of green grass, but I find it distracting.... The bright green colors on both sides of my reading material. But that's just me!"
  • We try to post a conversation starter each night on our Facebook page, so be sure to join us there after 7 p.m. nightly!
  • On Twitter,  our friends @DC_Woburn and @BCGWoburn retweeted many of our posts. Thank you for spreading the Woburn Patch love!
  • Also on Twitter,  our awesome food columnist @ThoughtfulEats and @quellelove kept us informed of some great deals for our Frugal Family column.
