You may be aware that the Wyman St. area has been prone to horrendous and destructive flooding from Main St. all the way down to Winn St.  But you may not know that there are now three new developments being planned on Wyman St. that will add about 60 new houses on this small stretch of road.

Those who live in and around Wyman have seen a significant increase in the frequency and severity of flooding in their yards and basements after any new building or development is completed.  So we fully expect that flooding conditions will worsen with each of these three new developments.  A small group of citizens has been providing verbal, written, and photographic documentation to the Planning Board and Conservation Commission supporting these neighborhood concerns.  The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has also shown similar concerns and is now appealing the Conservation Commission’s ruling that the current engineering drainage plan is adequate.

Our small group wishes only to prevent flooding by preserving or assuring responsible flood conscious development of the Spence Farm & other properties.  To that end our efforts over the past year have been influential in significantly strengthening the original drainage plans for the first of these developments.
