Linscott School Hosts Geography Enrichment Programs

Submitted by Jen Taylor, Linscott-Rumford PTO Enrichment Coordinator

On November 18th the Linscott-Rumford Elementary School of Woburn will host two educational enrichment programs for it's students.

The first is a geography bee for second graders. According to the Traveling EduTarium, the program is geared to the Earth and the way we organize its surface generically. They'll talk about longitude, latitude, the equator, northern and southern hemispheres, the prime meridian, north and south poles, and boundries using continents, oceans, rivers, and mountains.

The second is a message in a bottle for fifth graders. According to the Traveling EduTarium, this program involves geography, mathematics, writing skills, and critical thinking. Students will toss a virtual message-in-a-bottle and determine where and when the bottle will reach land.

The Linscottt-Rumford would like to extend an invitation to other Woburn School PTO Enrichment Coordinators to view these programs. If interested, contact PTO Enrichment Coordinator Jen Taylor through the Linscott PTO website.
