Veteran's Day Memorial

As a life long resident of Woburn I would like to personally  thank every former, current and future veteran of Woburn.    I attended the Veteran's Day Memorial on Woburn Common today, and I am both angry and embarrassed at the attention given to the volunteers who worked on the memorial. Although I am thankful for the people who worked on the memorial, this day, "Veteran's Day" is for remembering and giving thanks to the Veterans who volunteered their lives for the safety and freedom of the people of the U.S.A.  The presenter should be ashamed of himself for taking that away from the veterans and turning the dedication into a popularity contest.     Once again, Thank You to our veterans and their family's for your service to the City of Woburn and The United States of America. The true volunteers.    Sincerely, Donna Magee

I also attended the Memorial and dedication on the common, I thought it was a very special and honorable day for our veteran's. I take my hat off to all the people who spent HUNDREDS of hours of their own time to make the Memorial a proud and special day for our city and it's veteran's. I think a little Thank you was not at all taking away form our veteran's and i'm sure every veteran there would love to have personally thanked all responsible. It was a beautiful tribute to our veterans.

I also attended the Memoiral and Dedication and I thought it was only right to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to make the day special for all our veterans.

I was there too. The ceremony for the wall dedication was totally separate from the annual Veterans' ceremony. The Veterans were all honored, and rightfully so, with the beautiful annual ceremony. The second part was the dedication of the new war memorial wall. Without the volunteers and Friends of Veterans Committee who worked hundreds of hours gathering thousands of names for months, this wall would not exist. Without the philanthropy of the Flaherty family, this wall would not exist. Without the generosity of Robert Shure from Skylight Studios this wall would not exist. I have no problem thanking each and every one of them who volunteered their time and money for the Veterans. For years I've heard how deplorable the conditions were for the old monument. Let's all be thankful to these people for stepping up and making Woburn proud.

As a veteran I would personally like to say Big Thank You to all the volunteers that spent countless hours making the memorial such a special to tribute to all veterans. I do not think anything was taking away from the veterans in thanking such a wonderful group of people who made it all possible. I
