"Whiz Kids" is a weekly column featuring individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even teams, who wow us with their accomplishments.
Each week, Woburn Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose the Woburn members of the Mass Public/Catholic Hockey team.  The Woburn players from the Mass Public/Catholic Hockey team are: Kayla Smith, Ashley Moran, Courtney Davis and Bryana Harron. The girls recently played in the Hockey Night in Boston Showcase against players from all over the country. Woburn Patch is happy to highlight this talented quartet as this week's Whiz Kids!  
Each week, Woburn Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose the St. Anthony's Baseball Team.  The St. Anthony's Baseball Team is made up: Anthony Scarpone, Michael Haley, Stephen Imposimato, Joey Doyle, AlexDiLuca, Tim Cadieux, Jordan Koester, Chris Burns, Pat Donahoe, David Soares, Sam Hadley and Mitchell Buckley. The team recently won the 2011 Babe Ruth level championship.  Woburn Patch is happy to highlight the entire team as this week's Whiz Kids! 
Each week, Woburn Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose the entire Girls Major Softball All-Star Team (ages 11-12).  The Girls Major Softball All-Star Team is made up of 14 11 to 12-year-old girls: Hannah Bolster, Olivia Carbone, Julia Carey, Tori Cerulli, Katelind Ciavardone, Maddy Cole, Kaitlyn Cronin, Danielle DiFrumolo, Sarah Kenton, Michelle Le, Brianna Lundin, Meaghan O'Brien, Mikaila Richards, Nicole Vieira. Each week, Woburn Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose the entire Under-14 4 Black City Travel Team.  The Under-14 4 Black City Travel Team is made up of several 13 to 15-year-old girls. See chart below for players' names.  The Black City Travel Team recently came in second in the Commissioners' Cup soccer finals.  The Black City Travel Team's "Key to Awesomeness" is its awesome attitude and never-give-up spirit. The team, which was a 4 team all season, steam-rolled past teams in the 1, 2 and 3 ranking to come in second in the Commissioners' Cup tournament this year. …

This week, we chose Will Carpenter, an outstanding athlete and generous spirit.  Will Carpenter, 10 Reeves Elementary School Will is an accomplished athlete, but also a thoughtful, charitable youth.  Will's "Key to Awesomeness" is that he is a great athlete, but an even more generous person. Known as “Will the Thrill” by his baseball teammates and coaches, Will is hitting over .500 for his AAA baseball team, the Twins. This week, we chose Alex and Kristen Brodeur, Kevin Dukas, Michael Cerullo, Max Marshall and Adil Sageer, all members of the Woburn Public Library Scrabble Club. These six kids are hoping to go to Florida to represent Woburn in the National Scrabble Tournament!
