Woburn bounced back from an early Wildcat push and went on to a 10-6 victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Ken Blaszka will be on the sidelines for the Woburn High School boys lacrosse team. But for the last week of the season, he knows there’s not much coaching he has left to do. “At this point we aren’t putting anything new in the game plan. It’s take it to the cooker, score, and stop them,” said Blaszka, whose team needs two victories in its final four regular season contests to earn a playoff berth. “There’s no coaching at this point. It’s just who wants it. Hopefully we want it and we’ll make the tournament.” Woburn improved its playoff chances on Thursday when it took a lead into halftime and dominated the time of possession in the final two periods for a 10-6 victory. The Sox manager received the lowest disapproval percentage in Public Policy Polling history – even better than Abraham Lincoln, Mother Theresa and Santa Claus. What a difference a year makes for the Sox. The team’s hot start has 27 percent of those who took the survey predicting a World Series. Only 3 percent said the Sox will not make the playoffs. Sixty-four percent of those surveyed said Farrell is doing a good job. Only 1 percent disapproved of Farrell’s work this year. The Woburn High School boys lacrosse team hung tight in the first half, but fell to a difficult foe, 14-5, on Tuesday.
Though Woburn hung with Reading in the first half, it was the Rockets who took over in the closing two quarters of boys lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. The Tanners trailed just 5-3 at the intermission, but the Rockets took over in the final minutes and went on to a 14-5 win. While Reading improved to 10-2 on the year, the setback dropped Woburn to 4-6 on the campaign.
