Originating Principals for anti bull-e gear share their experience and learning about bullying in our children’s lives."
Wondering how to talk to your child about bullying? Wondering how you can protect your child(ren) from bullying? Come learn about recent research on how bullying happens and how parents can partner with schools to prepare and protect their own children. Presenters from the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center @ Bridgewater State University (founded by Dr. Elizabeth Englander to bring Anti-Bullying services to Massachusetts schools) will share how school problems and cyber-issues impact friendships, and what to discuss with your child to reduce the risk that he or she will become involved. Bullying and cyberbullying can impact children emotionally, academically, and can result in long-standing problems. Education and awareness is the answer. This parent education seminar is co-sponsored by the Joyce and Kennedy Middle School PTOs and Woburn Police S.R.O. Division. Parents of all students are welcome. Please attend to learn more about how you can add your voice to putting an end to bullying !!

The Joyce Middle School is one of two middle schools serving the city of Woburn. At Joyce, more than 70 staff members work with 500-plus students every day.
Homework is generally given to students every night. Minimum homework is usually 60 minutes of work, four nights a week for sixth-graders, 90 minutes nightly for seventh-graders and two hours nightly for eighth-graders.
Report cards are issued to students four times a year in November, January, April and June. High honor roll and honor roll awards are presented every marking period.
The Woburn Public Schools Administrative Offices are located at the Joyce Middle School. Superintendent Mark Donovan's office is on the main floor of the administration building at Joyce.

I agree with you. I am on the Bullying Committee and we are working very hard to set protocols and adhere to state mandated guidelines to ensure all students are safe. I joined because I was concerned how the process of identifying a "bully" would take place and then how was the "said bully" to be rehabilitaed back in to his or her social world. From a parent's view, there are 3 main educational levels of adolence: elementary, middle school and high school all having their individual thought processes and emotionl upheavals.
I beleive once ground rules are etablished and classes,{yes classes}, on respect towards one another are brought into the classrooms along with guidance to help the identified troublemakers things will start to get better. Parents must also remember, they play a crucial role in this area and if we work as a team {parents, teachers and child} we can have progress.
