Rockland Trust Appoints Woburn Branch Managers

Rockland Trust has appointed two longtime community bankers to head up its branches in Woburn.  Pat Whalen is Assistant Vice president and Manager for the bank’s Woburn Four Corners branch at 198 Lexington Street, and Maria Zeqo is Assistant Vice President and Manager for the Woburn Main Street branch at 275 Main Street.

Whalen was previously an assistant branch manager for Citizens Bank, and a financial representative for American General Financial Services, a subsidiary of AIG. Before joining Rockland Trust, Zeqo held a variety of branch management roles at Citizens Bank. She is also multilingual, and speaks her native Albanian, Spanish, and Greek.

Both Whalen and Zeqo believe that personal involvement in local organizations helps them to connect with the Woburn Community and better understand their financial needs.  Whalen for example is involved in the Woburn Boys and Girls Club, as well as the YMCA. Zeqo is also involved in the YMCA and teaches adult learning classes on personal finances.

Zeqo and Whalen both observe that the most prevalent trend impacting how consumers and businesses are conducting their banking, is changing technology. The boom in new digital technology has led to new ways to interact with banks, such as online banking. While bank branches still serve an important function they say, more and more people are paying their bills and checking their account balances online – and using newer technology, such as mobile banking. With nearly 80 Rockland Trust branches in Massachusetts, and digital services such as online banking, mobile banking, and “Smart” ATMS, Zeqo and Whalen both note that they are able to offer a full range of banking options to serve the Woburn community.

In spite of the increase in digital banking, Zeqo and Whalen say that relationships still matter and are necessary to truly understanding customers’ financial needs. Their most important goal is to provide an excellent banking experience through the personable, one-on-one service that Rockland Trust has delivered since 1907.
