Woburn Common to Be Lit Up Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

To honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, supporters will come to Woburn Common on Thursday for a variety of activities and speakers.

Supporters hope to spread the word about Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is September, during a Thursday event on Woburn Common.

According to a Patch event page, the event begins with acoustic music by Woburn residents John Murphy and Buddy Fanjoy at 7 p.m.

Also taking place on the evening will be the sale of gold t-shirts, balloons, a gold nail polish table, a raffle for a 1968 Camaro, bracelets, cookies and more. Proceeds from the event will go to children and families battling cancer.

Mayor Scott Galvin and childhood cancer advocates Tony Stoddard and Nancy Whipple are scheduled to speak to the crowd before the area is lit up gold at dusk, according to the event page.
