New Mexican Restaurant Opens Its Doors Inside Burlington Mall

Entrees range between $17 and $28 while lunch specials can be had for $8 to $15.

Besito Mexican, an authentic Mexican restaurant created by acclaimed restaurateur John Tunney III, opened its first Massachusetts location on Tuesday inside the Burlington Mall.

Until Tuesday, the only Besito locations were in Huntington, New York, Roslyn, New York, and West Hartford, Conn.

But the Burlington grand opening marked the first of two scheduled Massachusetts locations. A restaurant in Chestnut Hill is scheduled to open in September, according to the company's website.

"Translated as 'little kiss,' Besito Mexican’s cuisine is prepared carefully and with great affection for Mexican tradition and served to guests in a vibrant, intimate atmosphere," the company said in announcing its Burlington opening. "In advance of opening his first Besito Mexican location in 2006, Tunney traveled extensively throughout Mexico establishing a connection with its people and cuisine.  Tunney knew then that he was embarking on something special: a chance to celebrate not just Mexican food but the Mexican culture."

The Burlington location includes more than 100 seats and a full bar. Food at Besito is described as "sophisticated but approachable takes on traditional Mexican dishes."

Decorated with a "rockin' hacienda feel,' the restaurant includes a candle wall with more than 150 candles. There are also Mexican artifacts throughout the restaurant.

Entrees at Besito range between $17 and $28, lunch specials can be purchased from $8 to $15, all desserts are $7, and cocktails range between $7 and $12.
