POLL: Where Will You Do Most Of Your Holiday Shopping This Year?

Do you spend the bulk of your holiday gift budget while visiting small businesses, chain stores, or websites?

Thanksgiving isn't just a day of giving thanks, it's also the last day before the holiday shopping season starts with a bang with early openings and one-day-only deals on Black Friday.

In addition, this year is the second Small Business Saturday, a day, according to the organizers, "dedicated to supporting small businesses on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year," and this year's Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, is expected to draw an additional 10 million shoppers to their screens over last year's total.

Patch wants to know where the chips fall for you.  Are you saving your money for internet sales, or did you complete the bulk of your shopping on November 25?  Is Small Business Saturday the day you'll be out in force?

Vote in our poll, and fill in the details in the comments.  This is your chance to explain why you eschew chain stores, computer shopping, or companies without a national reach!

I do a combination of things to complete christmas shopping. I get a lot online, but I also find cute trinkets at small shops. I also use Etsy, which is a site for small retailers. Its like an online 'marketplace' in the true sense of the word. Christmas is about the gift, not the value.I have never purchased an electronic for anyone. I put thought into gifts, and I am pretty sure the recipients appreciate that!

As a small business owner myself I try to get as much as possible from independent retailers. You can't always 'keep it local' but you can usually keep it small - not malls. The independents rely on your holiday shopping to get them through much of the slow winter months and they all contribute more to your local economy, schools and community than a box store ever will. No one wants a Main Street that is only pizza parlors and nail salons :-)
