Woburn Woman's Gym Finds Early Success

Body Infusion by HER off to fast start with clients traveling from in and out of town for a workout.

With the three owners of Body Infusion by HER coming from Wilmington, Tewksbury and Woburn, it was evident that there would be a client base from multiple towns around the local area .

But just how far residents have been willing to travel for a workout has been surprising, even to Wilmington’s newest trio of gym owners.

“We have customers coming from Wilmington, Billerica and Tewksbury, but we have people coming from as far as Lynnfield and Peabody,” said co-owner Emily Vieira, of Wilmington. “I didn’t know people would even know about us so the fact that they drive all the way from there is exciting. I don’t know how they got the word, but they came. It’s been pretty cool.”

Vieira, Tewksbury resident Rose Ryan and Woburn’s Heather Lowe combined to open the new workout studio in the beginning of May, and according to the Wilmington resident it’s been an eye-opening experience.

Here’s a complete look at what Vieira had to say about the last two months in business.

What is the biggest thing you’ve learned?

None of us ever owned our own business before. There’s a lot to it. It’s not just going in, teaching classes, walking out and you’re done. So that’s been the biggest thing we’ve learned. You do have the relationships with people when you work at a gym, but this is a different relationship. You have to really learn how to please people but also run the business as well.

What’s been your favorite part of running the business?

The people. Enjoying the people that come in and the relationships. And that it’s our own. We can do our own thing, change the schedule to how people like it and we can do that often. Working at a gym, they don’t change the schedule to what other people need or want. We see what our customers want more of and we can adjust our schedule.

What has been the hardest part?

The amount of classes that we’ve added on to our schedule. Two of us work full-time jobs and one is a stay at home mom, so it’s been a bit of a change. It’s been a little wear and tear, but definitely worth it.

What can residents look for in upcoming months?

For the fall, we’ll have some specials coming up and be adding more classes. We’re looking into getting some other programs started. We’re also look to get some certifications so people can come in and get certified if they’re interested. This weekend we have a spin-a-thon for the Pan Massachusetts Challenge, so we’ll run classes all day and donating the proceeds to the PMC. We’ll be doing different events like that in the future.
