Industry Leader Karen McShea joins Avison Young in Boston

Commercial real estate industry veteran becomes Senior Vice President

Boston, MARick Kimball, Principal and Managing Director of Avison Young’s New England operations, announced today that commercial real estate veteran Karen McShea has joined Avison Young New England.

Effective immediately, Ms. McShea becomes a Senior Vice President with Avison Young. She will continue to advise clients on regional and global real estate leasing and development.

Most recently an Executive Director and Principal at Colliers International, Ms. McShea has over 20 years of global commercial real estate experience. Throughout her career, as team leader she was responsible for development consulting for over 25 million square feet of projects world-wide including Boston, Washington, DC, Cincinnati, Ohio, San Juan, Puerto Rico, the islands of Curacao, British Virgin Islands, and Montserrat, Cartagena Colombia, Riga, Latvia, Cap Haitien, Haiti, among others.  Additionally, Karen has advised numerous corporate clients on relocation strategies, build-to-suit projects, and lease transactions. Karen began her real estate career in Boston in 1987, where she worked as Leasing Representative in the Central Business District of Boston.  In that capacity, she was responsible for market research, marketing, leasing transactions, building representation and business development. Throughout her career, Karen’s breadth and depth of experience was used to advise clients on complex projects and assignments world-wide.

Ms. McShea served her country as a diplomat in Moscow, Russia in the US Department of State, where she was responsible for analyzing and shaping policy on the privatization of real estate, United Nations policies towards sanctions, and intellectual property rights. Ms. McShea is a member of the Urban Land Institute and holds degrees from Boston College and from the United States Foreign Affairs Institute. Ms. McShea is a Woburn resident.
