Bioss grows in Woburn

Biotech firm expands for sixth time with Cummings Properties

WOBURN, November 18, 2013 — For the sixth time in only four years, Bioss, Inc. has signed a new lease to expand its space with Woburn-based commercial real estate firm Cummings Properties. The U.S. office of this biotech company now occupies 5,000 square feet at 500 West Cummings Park.

Serving research hospitals, universities, and biotech and pharmaceutical firms, Bioss is a state-of-the-art antibody manufacturer offering custom antibody and peptide services for biological research. Its clients include academic researchers from MIT and Harvard University, national organizations such as the FDA and the National Institutes of Health, as well as industrial customers such as Genzyme and Merck.

Bioss initially leased from Cummings Properties via its executive office suites division in 2010, with a two-person staff in less than 200 square feet of space. It underwent four expansions before moving into a larger traditional office space in 500 West Cummings Park in July of this year. Due to its continued rapid growth, Bioss recently expanded again at its current location.

“We are so glad to keep Bioss in the Cummings organization,” said Patricia Whelchel, general manager for Cummings Executive Suites. “We lease spaces in a wide range of sizes and with differing key features for precisely this reason: so we can meet the needs of clients like Bioss as they grow and evolve in the marketplace.”

The new space for Bioss features a shipping and receiving area, to aid in distribution of its products to the U.S. biotech market.
