1) It's Friday!

A gentle reminder that today is actually Friday and not Wednesday. If you're like Woburn Patch, you might have been confused earlier this week. But today is indeed Friday! And it's a full day of school for the kids, along with all city offices and departments. Vacation's over, readers!

2) Blood drive

A Woburn Community Blood Drive will be held today at noon at the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Barbara. Head on over during your lunch break, or anytime before 5 p.m. All donors will receive a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

3) Still cold

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, it won't be as cold as yesterday, but it's going to be pretty darn chilly. Expect temperatures to be in the high 30s, but it'll feel a lot colder than that thanks to some high winds. Gusts could be as high as 28 miles per hour today.

4) In case you missed it

A Woburn woman reported she's been harassed ever since using her EBT card to purchase alcohol and a cab ride in Malden. Read the whole report in yesterday's Woburn Police Log.

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Jan. 4 events in Woburn was:

  • 1914—Fireman Overcome At Woburn Blaze—A two-alarm fire at Calamity Corner, at Main Street and Montvale Avenue, causes a property loss of about $25,000.
