5T: Marijuana Dispensary Moratorium Approved

Make sure to check in with today's column of news, events, history and more.

Here are five things you need to know today in Woburn:

1) Marijuana moratorium

The Planning Board voted in favor of a one-year moratorium on marijuana dispensaries, according to a report in the Woburn Daily Times. The city had put into motion a zoning ordinance that would add the dispensaries to the "adult" uses zoning, which is found in the Commerce Way/Presidential Way area.

2) Healthy eating

A six-week program by Lahey Clinic begins today at the Senior Center. Join instructors every Thursday at 10 a.m. for lessons and discussions surrounding healthy eating choices. Class is free, but you must register with the Senior Center main office.

3) Another 'warm' one

According to the National Weather Service's pinpointed forecast for Woburn, it's going to be another mild winter day. Expect temperatures to around 40 degrees today, with a light wind.

4) In case you missed it

An elderly driver hit a bank building on the West Side on Tuesday. Catch up with that and a reported robbery in yesterday's Police Log.

5) Historic Headline

Let's take a walk through Woburn's history, shall we? A headline in the newspaper regarding Jan. 10 events in Woburn was:

  • 1920—House Set Afire in Woburn Feud—A fire is set on Corn Street during an apparent feud.
