Five things to know today.

Today is Friday, April 12. Here are five things to know:

1) Rain and sleet

Looks like a messy and not-very-Spring day today. According to the National Weather Service we can expect rain before 2 p.m. followed by rain and sleet until 3 p.m. followed by more rain. High near 40 degrees. Rain tonight with an overnight low around 37 degrees.

2) Meet your Alderman

Alderman Mike Raymond is holding open office hours at 12 p.m. today in the Woburn Senior Center.

 

3) Baby boot camp

The Winchester Recreation Department, 263 Main St., Winchester, is holding a Baby Boot Camp for Winchester and Woburn mothers at 9:30 a.m. this morning. Baby Boot Camp is an innovative stroller-fitness program that helps moms regain or enhance pre-pregnancy fitness levels and meet the physical challenges of parenting by emphasizing strength training in a supportive environment. 4) Cupcakes for Cancer

True North Coffee in Burlington is hosting a "Cupcakes for Cancer" fundraising event for the Burlington Relay for Life at 6 p.m. today. Raffle items generously donated by: Get in Shape for Women, Schoolhouse Ice Cream, a Whole Bunch of Flowers, Sweet Ginger, Edwina's Knitch, Roche Bros., H3XL, Stellabella Toys, Regina's Pizzeria, Not Your Average Joes, Old Town Liquors and many more.

 

5) Jimmy V Fund fundraiser

The Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill has partnered up with Cornona to raise money for The Jimmy V Fund.  All of the Scoreboard staff are selling paper basketballs to be hung up around the restaurant.  The Jimmy V Fund is for cancer research. They will be selling the basketballs till the end of March Madness.
